Prototype version of the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 lens was presented at Photokina 2012. Samyang enhanced its development program to achieve top optical performance while reducing size, resulting in the latest Samyang 10mm 1:2.8 ED AS NCS CS lens with capabilities comparable to leading wide-angle primes and zooms.
This lens is ideal for indoor, architectural, and landscape photography, offering an exceptionally wide 109.5° field of view with rectilinear image mapping. Its fast f/2.8 aperture allows use in low light, making it suitable for sports and photojournalism. The optical design includes 14 elements in 10 groups, featuring 2 aspherical (AS) lenses and 1 extra-low dispersion (ED) element. The prototype included an embedded lens hood for compactness and weight reduction (~160 g less for Canon EF mount version).
NCS (Nano Coating System)
This is the first Samyang lens with Nano Crystal Coating, providing lower reflection than traditional (U)MC coatings by applying a more uniform layer. Benefits include improved light transmission, reduced reflections, higher contrast, and superior optical resolution.
