The Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS lens is designed to fill the gap in the market for APS-C mirrorless cameras, offering a large angle of view combined with high brightness. It is optimized for cameras with high-resolution sensors exceeding 24 megapixels, delivering excellent optical performance at an affordable price.
Optical Design and Features
- Wide angle of view: 98.9° with rectilinear image mapping for minimal distortion.
- Large maximum aperture of f/2.0 enables high-quality shooting in low-light conditions.
- Optical construction consists of 12 elements in 10 groups, including:
- One aspherical lens (ASP)
- One hybrid aspherical lens (H-ASP)
- Three Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements to reduce chromatic aberrations.
- Nanocrystal Coating System (NCS) applied on two lens elements reduces reflections more effectively than traditional coatings, improving light transmission, contrast, and optical resolution.
Applications
This lens is ideal for landscape photography, interior and architectural photography, as well as astrophotography. Its compact and lightweight design (245 g) makes it well-suited for smaller mirrorless camera bodies.
