The Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens is designed for full-frame Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras, offering a compact and lightweight build optimized for portability without compromising image quality. It delivers smooth bokeh with rounded out-of-focus highlights in both foreground and background, enhancing the three-dimensional impression of subjects. The lens features a minimum focusing distance of 9.5 cm, making it suitable for close-up shots such as tabletop photography and snapshots where subject separation is desired.
Its optical design controls spherical aberrations to produce large, soft, and rounded bokeh effects. The constant f/2.8 aperture allows for effective use in available light and precise depth of field control.
Autofocus and Handling
The lens is equipped with a stepping motor that provides fast, precise, and near-silent autofocus performance, ideal for both still photography and video recording. It supports features like Face/Eye Detection AF. Full-time manual focus override is also available for fine-tuning focus manually.
A rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to the smooth and pleasing bokeh quality. The aperture ring includes a command position for quick aperture adjustments.
Build Quality and Compatibility
The bayonet mount is constructed from brass to ensure durability and precise lens alignment. Rubber sealing around the mount provides dust and splash resistance, enhancing reliability in challenging environments.
This lens is designed primarily for full-frame Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras but is also compatible with APS-C models, where it provides an equivalent focal length of approximately 68 mm.
