The SAMYANG AF 85mm F1.4 FE II is the updated second edition of the popular autofocus 85mm lens designed for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. Released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Samyang Optics, this lens features upgraded performance, improved autofocus, and a more compact, lightweight design.

Optical Performance
The lens incorporates 4 High Refractive (HR) and 1 Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements to deliver outstanding contrast and resolution. Its center sharpness surpasses many more expensive telephoto lenses. Advanced coating technology improves image sharpness even in low light and enhances color fidelity with an improved Color Contribution Index (CCI).
Beautiful Bokeh
The large f/1.4 aperture enables a very shallow depth of field, producing smooth, natural background blur that makes subjects stand out. Notably, the lens does not use any aspherical glass elements, avoiding the onion ring effect in bokeh and ensuring exceptionally clean and pleasing out-of-focus areas.
Autofocus System
Equipped with a linear STM, the lens offers fast, precise, and quiet autofocus ideal for both still photography and video. The autofocus system minimizes vibration and noise, providing smooth subject tracking and silent operation during video recording.
Close Focusing Capability
The minimum focusing distance is 0.85 meters, allowing for impressive close-up shots that capture fine details with a beautifully blurred background.
Customizable Controls
- Focus Hold Button: Locks focus at the current distance and can be assigned functions such as Eye AF via the camera body.
- Custom Switch: Enables silent aperture adjustment by rotating the focus ring. Settings can be customized using the optional Lens Station.
Build and Weather Resistance
The lens features a rubberized micro-patterned focus ring, a stylish silver ring, a hidden red ring, and a matte finish for comfortable handling. It is weather-sealed in seven areas to protect against light rain, snow, and dust, making it suitable for challenging shooting environments.
