The optical construction, developed in collaboration with Schneider-Kreuznach, combines three HR, two ED, and three aspherical elements with Samyang UMC coating to control aberrations and maintain clear contrast and colors throughout the frame. The 9-blade diaphragm provides a pleasing, rounded bokeh effect. For both photo and video capture, the linear STM drive ensures fast and quiet autofocus with reliable subject tracking, while the AF/MF switch allows for quick access to manual precision adjustments when needed.
Close-Up Performance
Close-up work is a strong feature, focusing as close as 0.18 m at 24 mm with a 0.27 magnification or 0.32 m at 60 mm with a 0.25 magnification, making detailed shots easy without changing lenses. The durable aluminum barrel has an IP5X dust and splash resistance rating, as well as a water and oil-repellent coating, and the practical 72 mm front filter thread allows for easy use of filters.
