The 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 lens offers a broad focal length range with an 8x zoom ratio, covering from 50mm standard to 400mm ultra-telephoto. This versatility allows capturing subjects with background context and is ideal for subjects that move closer or farther away, such as wildlife, sports, and landscapes. Despite its extensive zoom range, the lens remains compact and lightweight, measuring only 183.4mm in length and weighing 1,155g, making it convenient for travel and handheld use.
Outstanding Optical Performance
The lens features an optical construction of 24 elements in 18 groups, including special elements such as XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), LD (Low Dispersion), and Hybrid Aspherical lenses to effectively control aberrations including axial chromatic aberrations. The BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) coating minimizes ghosting and flare, ensuring sharp, clear images with fine detail even in backlit conditions. It delivers sharp resolution to the edges and beautiful bokeh effects typical of ultra-telephoto lenses.
Fast and Precise Autofocus
Utilizing the VXD linear motor focus mechanism, the lens provides fast, accurate autofocus from minimum focusing distance to infinity. It offers excellent focus tracking performance for moving subjects, enabling sharp images of wildlife and fast sports action.
Effective Image Stabilization
The built-in TAMRON VC image stabilization compensates for camera shake, especially at telephoto focal lengths, improving handheld shooting stability in low light or at slower shutter speeds. AI technology optimizes stabilization characteristics for videography at focal lengths of 100mm or less.
