Optical Performance and Design
The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens is engineered for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, offering a versatile 50mm focal length ideal for portraiture, landscapes, and general photography. The bright f/1.4 maximum aperture allows for excellent control over depth of field and low-light shooting. The lens features 14 elements arranged in 11 groups, including three aspherical lenses and one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass element, effectively minimizing aberrations such as astigmatism and field curvature that cannot be corrected in-camera.
Autofocus and Handling
The lens incorporates a newly designed HLA linear focusing motor that delivers fast, precise, and quiet autofocus performance, suitable for stills and video. It includes a focus mode switch, aperture ring with click and lock switches to prevent accidental changes, and an AFL button that can be customized with camera functions. The front lens element is treated with water- and oil-repellent coatings to enhance usability in harsh conditions.
