Natural Night Filter for Reducing Light Pollution

The JJC 52mm Natural Night Filter (F RN52) is designed to reduce light pollution in photos and videos captured during night scenes. It enhances color saturation to provide natural and vivid color reproduction.

Light Pollution in Night Photography

Light pollution commonly occurs near concentrated artificial light sources such as city streetlamps, commercial and residential building lights, billboards, and entertainment venues. This results in skyglow, which obscures stars, the Milky Way, and other astronomical features.

Functionality of the JJC Natural Night Filter

This filter selectively reduces light pollution by filtering specific wavelength bands, mainly yellow light emitted by sodium vapor lamps, mercury vapor lamps, and low Color Rendering Index (CRI) LEDs found in urban areas. It maintains high transmittance in nebular emission lines, darkening artificial light sources and improving image contrast.

When used, the filter produces images with pure colors, clear stars, and greatly improved transparency. It also enhances sunset colors by making the sky appear bluer and more vivid with richer color layers.
