UNITREE BrainCo Revo 2 Touch Robotic Hand

The BrainCo Revo 2 Touch is a biomimetic robotic hand designed for integration with Unitree humanoid robots. It has 11 degrees of freedom, including 6 actively driven joints, for complex movements and precise object manipulation. The Touch version adds a multidimensional fingertip touch module and Tactile Adaptive Control to support interaction with the environment. With a full-grip force of at least 50 N, a maximum payload of at least 20 kg, and RS485, CAN FD and EtherCAT interfaces, it is suited to research and advanced robotics projects.

Biomimetic design

The Revo 2 Touch is designed to reproduce the movements of a human hand. It has 6 active joints and 11 degrees of freedom. The thumb has two active degrees of freedom and one additional passive degree of freedom, expanding its range of movement. The other fingers also mimic natural movement, enabling complex gestures and effective manipulation of different objects.

Touch sensing for precise manipulation

A multidimensional touch module on the fingertips detects contact with objects and provides additional information about the hand’s actions. This improves manipulation accuracy and supports tasks that require precise grasping and handling. Tactile Adaptive Control further supports effective and safe handling of components with different shapes, sizes and properties.

Grip force and dimensions

Despite weighing only 383 g, the Revo 2 Touch provides a full-grip force of at least 50 N and a pincer grip force of at least 15 N. Its maximum payload is at least 20 kg. The maximum opening distance between the thumb and index finger is 100 mm, allowing it to handle objects of different sizes.

Fast, repeatable operation

Full flexion or extension takes no more than 0.65 s. Control repeatability of 0.1° supports smooth, consistent movement.

Integration and control

The Revo 2 Touch supports RS485, CAN FD and EtherCAT communication interfaces for integration with a range of robotic platforms and control systems. An SDK supports Python and C, with Linux, Windows and ROS compatibility, enabling users to develop applications, integrate the hand into existing projects and create control functions for specific tasks.

Available control modes include position, speed and current control, as well as cascade, compliance and Tactile Adaptive Control. These modes support reaching a target position within a specified time, operating with speed limits and maintaining specified current parameters. The Turbo function uses motion-block detection: when the hand contacts an object, it can continue tightening its grip at 500 ms intervals. This is useful when handling soft or easily deformable objects and helps maintain a stable grip.

Gestures, safety and updates

Users can define custom gestures and motion configurations, and prepare action sequences for specific processes or tasks. This flexibility supports the automation of repetitive operations.

Protection features include overcurrent, stall, overheating and collision protection. OTA updates allow new features and improvements to be installed without physical intervention on the hardware.
