Compatible with all of Lensbaby’s current and legacy Optic Swap lens bodies, the Soft Focus II optic enhances its predecessor by incorporating a 12-blade manually adjustable internal aperture within its unique and versatile drop-in magnetic aperture system.
Optical Characteristics
At its brightest aperture settings, the Soft Focus II produces an impressionistic image characterized by subtle sharp details beneath a soft glow. It renders a color palette leaning towards soft pastels and creates a remarkably flat field of focus, enabling photographic effects unattainable with other lenses.
When stopped down to f/8 or smaller apertures, the optic delivers beautifully detailed, traditionally sharp images featuring a large central area of focus with smoothly out-of-focus edges on full-frame sensors and 35mm film.
Aperture Control and Versatility
The internal 12-blade aperture is manually adjusted by rotating the front of the optic, allowing quick and precise variability of the optical effect. This enables seamless transitions from impressionistic, glowing images to contrasty, sharp photographs.
