Product details

Universal 60mm Viewfinder and Guide Telescope

The Bresser EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 10x60 is an excellent viewfinder telescope featuring a 60mm aperture and a focal length of 250mm. It includes a removable eyepiece unit with crosshairs that have adjustable red illumination, enhancing visibility and precision. The larger aperture and focal length provide a brighter field of view and more accurate tracking due to higher resolution. Equipped with a precise helical focuser and a 1.25 inch (31.7mm) plug-in connection, as well as a T2 camera connection thread (M42x0.75mm), it supports autoguiding for long exposure astrophotography to achieve point-shaped star images. Additionally, it can be used as a compact travel telescope.

High-Quality 10x60 Viewfinder Telescope with Adjustable Crosshair Illumination

  • Bright and crisply sharp image with a very large field of view (FOV) of 6.0 degrees, facilitating easier object finding and adjustment.
  • Crosshair features scale markings with 0.85 degree pitch and open center markings for precise centering.
  • All lens surfaces are fully multi-coated (FMC) to protect against weathering and ensure high light transmission for a bright image.
  • Adjustable red LED illumination powered by two LR41 coin batteries enhances crosshair visibility.
  • Independent focusing of the main lens and crosshairs allows perfect focus tailored to the observer's eyes.

Compact Tracking Unit for Autoguiding

This telescope is designed for autoguiding, where a smaller guiding telescope with a tracking camera corrects mechanical tracking errors of the main photo-taking optics. The guiding telescope mounts into the existing viewfinder shoe of the main telescope and aligns parallel. If incompatible, a suitable viewfinder shoe is included. The rear end features a 1.25 inch (31.7mm) plug connection or a T2 thread (M42x0.75mm) for mounting a tracking camera, secured by a brass ring clamp and three clamping screws.

The focal plane (backfocus) is approximately 22mm behind the T2 thread. Focusing on the guiding star is achieved via a large knurled wheel on the mechanically precise helical focuser, which has a laser-engraved millimetre scale from 0 to 28mm for reproducible focus settings. After connecting the tracking camera to the telescope mount and configuring the system, long exposure astrophotography with point-shaped star images is possible.

Use as Mini Travel Telescope

The viewfinder and guide telescope can also serve as a mini travel telescope. With optional eyepieces, magnifications from 9x to 50x are achievable. It supports nearly all eyepieces with focal lengths from 5 to 26mm and a 1.25 inch (31.7mm) plug connection. Recommended eyepieces include the EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 52-degree and 62-degree LER series. Note that only straight viewing is possible.

Metal Viewfinder Holder and Shoe

  • The mount is made entirely of aluminium, providing a stable base.
  • Compatible with many common telescopes such as EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC and BRESSER MESSIER.
  • If the existing viewfinder shoe is incompatible, a matching shoe is included, attachable via four M5 screws with bore distances of 31.7mm longitudinally and transversely.
  • Six large adjustment screws with non-slip knurling allow easy alignment, even with clammy fingers.
  • All adjusting and clamping screws have plastic tips to prevent scratching of the viewfinder housing and mount.
