System Description
The Hydra Arm Mini is a cinema camera car crane that facilitates filming vehicles from multiple angles while moving. Its lightweight, counterweight-free design allows users to focus on one end of the arm, improving safety and ease of use.
The Pro Kit includes suction cups, speed rail, and ratchet straps to mount the system on vehicles supporting up to 80 kg (176 lb) of arm weight, excluding gimbal and camera. The Basic Kit is intended for users who already own 50 mm speed rail or want to build a permanent mount, and does not include mounting hardware.
Optional suction cup kits are available for vehicles with various sunroof sizes, including panoramic sunroofs. An optional Electronic Kit enables remote monitoring of suction cup pressure for enhanced safety.
Shock Absorbing Features
- The shock-absorbing arm stabilizes the gimbal on uneven surfaces and is adjustable for different payloads.
- The shock-absorbing head allows individual adjustment on both horizontal and vertical axes.
Controller and Operation
- The included wired controller ensures reliable communication with the arm.
- Operators can adjust tilt and pan axis parameters such as speed, dampening, and range of motion individually.
- Custom user settings allow selection from various configurations for comfortable operation.
- Pro Mode enables simultaneous control of the Hydra Arm Mini and RS2/RS3 Pro gimbal via the controller, recommended only with proper precautions.
Performance and Compatibility
- Supports speeds up to 120 km/h (74 mph) under ideal conditions; recommended to keep speeds at or below 60 km/h (37 mph) especially with heavier cameras or lighter gimbals.
- Operating speed depends on camera weight, gimbal strength, and weather conditions.
- Compatible with other gimbals mountable via 1/4-20 threads, powered by V-Mount batteries, and within 10 kg (22 lb) weight limit.
Power and Connectivity
- Includes a V-Mount battery plate at the arm's end to power the gimbal via the included P-Tap to 2-pin power cable or alternative cables.
- An optional Gold Mount battery plate will be available for purchase separately.
- The arm does not provide power or video passthrough; wireless video transmitters and onboard camera batteries are required.
- Power Source Requirement: Requires a 220 V, 1800 Wh+ power source (not included). Recommended power solution is the EcoFlow Delta with a 110 to 220 V power converter (3000 W+).
