High-Quality Signal Processing

Engineered with precision electronics, the converter offers very low SDI jitter, enabling long SDI cable runs essential for live production environments. It supports both 8 and 10-bit video formats in RGB or YUV color spaces, covering all SD and HD formats up to 1080p60, including film rates 1080p24, 1080p47.95, and 1080p48. Fully embedded audio and timecode support are included.

Software Configuration and Updates

Settings and firmware updates are managed via a free converter utility software connecting through USB. Users can rename the converter for easy identification, select between 3G-SDI level A or B, and configure camera numbers for bidirectional control when used with compatible switchers.

3D LUT and Color Accuracy

The SDI to HDMI 3G model includes a 3D LUT for real-time color accurate monitoring. Custom looks, color, and gamma adjustments can be applied on set. The 3D LUT can also be applied to the 3G-SDI loop output, enabling the converter to function as a 3D LUT processor. This allows use of low-cost monitors or TVs as color calibrated grading monitors. Users can create custom 3D LUTs with DaVinci Resolve, which is available for free.

Camera Control Support

The bidirectional Micro Converter SDI/HDMI 3G model supports camera control for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras when used with ATEM SDI switchers. It translates camera control signals between SDI and HDMI, enabling control of camera color correction, tally, and remote recording. It also supports reverse operation for controlling SDI cameras from HDMI switchers like ATEM Mini.
