Optimized Design for BMPCC4K
The Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x and XL 0.64x variants are specifically optimized for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (BMPCC4K). These adapters are based on existing Micro Four Thirds (MFT) models but feature redesigned optics tailored to the BMPCC4K's smaller sensor filter stack thickness. This optimization ensures maximum image quality, especially at extreme aperture openings.
Additionally, the adapter includes a longer tripod foot for perfect alignment and a secure connection between the camera body and the Speed Booster adapter via a quick release plate.
Mount Variants and Compatibility
- Available in Nikon G, Canon EF, and Canon EF CINE mounts.
- The ULTRA 0.71x model is also available in ARRI PL mount.

The Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x for BMPCC4K features advanced optics composed of six lens elements in four groups, including high refractive index tantalum glass elements. This design supports full-frame (FF), DX, and APS-C lenses, ranging from vintage film lenses to the latest models across all brands.
Utilizing patented technologies and high refractive index glass from Caldwell Photographic, the adapter improves the camera's electro-optical imaging system by reducing focal length, increasing lens luminosity, and enhancing sensor coverage. It also improves the modulation transfer function, particularly in the image center, with slight improvements toward the edges.
Performance Characteristics
- At maximum aperture f/0.9 (with an f/1.2 lens), the adapter delivers sharp, high-contrast images across the frame.
- At f/1.0, optical performance matches or exceeds the best photographic lenses at their optimum apertures.
- At f/2.0, it outperforms most photographic optics.
- Vignetting at f/0.9 does not exceed one aperture stop; no vignetting occurs at f/2.82 and above.
- Rectilinear distortion is less than 0.7%.
