The Blackmagic Teranex Express is the world's first real-time broadcast up and down converter supporting SD, HD, and Ultra HD formats, featuring advanced 12G-SDI technology. It utilizes patented Teranex algorithms to deliver visually transparent quality conversions, widely trusted by major broadcasters and studios globally. This model offers 178 different SD, HD, and Ultra HD up and down conversions in full 10-bit quality, including audio, closed captions, timecode, and more.

Design and User Interface

Teranex Express maintains the classic Teranex front panel layout, facilitating easy transition for existing users. It includes a built-in LCD monitor for menu navigation and live video preview of source format and frame rate, eliminating the need for an external monitor. The unit features an elegant machined metal front panel, compact 1RU rack size, and an integrated international power supply, combining premium internal processing with a robust exterior design.

12G-SDI Connectivity

Teranex Express is the first broadcast converter to incorporate multi-rate 12G-SDI connections, supporting 12G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and SD-SDI. This compatibility covers a broad range of SD, HD, and Ultra HD equipment. The 12G-SDI connections transfer data at up to 12 gigabits per second, enabling progressive Ultra HD video at up to 60 frames per second. This ensures future-proofing for emerging video formats.

PixelMotion De-Interlacing

Featuring Teranex's proprietary PixelMotion de-interlacing algorithms, the device converts interlaced material into perfect progressive frames. Real-time processing adjusts the aperture on a pixel-by-pixel basis, preserving vertical resolution and source detail. Combined with multidirectional diagonal filters, it eliminates jaggies for sharp, well-defined edges.

Audio and Metadata Support

• Supports conversion of up to 16 audio channels with full audio channel remapping.
• Maintains timecode and closed caption VANC data during conversions.
• Compatible with Dolby® AC-3 and Dolby® E encoded audio, allowing pass-through without decoding or re-encoding during same frame rate conversions.
• Subtitles, audio, and timecode remain perfectly synchronized with video.
