The Laowa Probe 24mm f/14 Cine is a specialized macro lens designed for extreme close-up photography and videography. Its original probe-style design allows capturing subjects at very close distances, revealing unusual perspectives and enabling views beneath water surfaces. The Cine version includes gear rings for compatibility with professional follow focus systems.
Compact and Precise
Measuring 41 cm in length with a front optical element diameter of only 2 cm, this lens allows discreet proximity to subjects and access to previously unreachable locations. It offers a large reproduction ratio of 2:1 and a minimum focusing distance of 20 mm from the front element, ideal for detailed macro work such as insect photography or exploring inside objects. Infinity focus capability supports creative composition.
Advanced Optical Construction
The lens features a sophisticated optical design with 27 elements arranged in 19 groups. Its 24 mm focal length provides an 85° field of view, enabling wide-angle macro shots that include environmental context and fine detail beyond conventional macro lenses. The all-metal barrel ensures durability and smooth manual operation of focus and aperture rings for precise control.
Integrated LED Ring Light
Due to the small front element and advanced optics, the lens has a minimum aperture of f/14, requiring well-lit subjects. To address this, it incorporates nine LEDs arranged in a ring around the front element, providing effective illumination even in complete darkness. The LED ring is powered via USB Type-C from an external source such as a power bank, with a 100 cm cable included.
Water-Resistant Front Element
The front 20 cm of the lens barrel is sealed against moisture, dust, and weather, allowing safe immersion in aquariums, lakes, or liquids for creative underwater macro photography and videography. Note that the USB port is not waterproof and flooding it may damage the lens.
