Blackmagic Video Assist 5" 12G HDR
The Blackmagic Video Assist 12G HDR adds professional monitoring and recording capabilities to any SDI or HDMI camera across HD, Ultra HD, 2K, and 4K DCI formats. Featuring a super bright 2500 nit 5-inch HDR touchscreen monitor, it supports 3D LUTs, professional scopes, and advanced focus and exposure assist tools to ensure precise focus, exposure, and framing.
Recording and Media Support
The built-in SD card recorder saves files in broadcast-quality 10-bit 4:2:2 Apple ProRes or Avid DNx formats, which are standard and compatible with all major editing software without the need for transcoding. It supports commonly available SD and UHS-II cards for long recordings. Additionally, the USB-C expansion port allows recording to external flash disks or SSDs, enhancing media flexibility.
Connectivity and Compatibility
- Multi-rate 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 inputs support SD, HD, Ultra HD, 2K, and 4K DCI formats up to 2160p60.
- Compatible with consumer cameras, broadcast cameras, and DSLRs.
- Supports Blackmagic RAW recording from supported cameras such as Panasonic EVA1 and Canon C300 MK II.
- Includes 12V DC power with locking connector and supports two Sony L-Series batteries for extended operation.
Display and HDR Support
The 5" HDR monitor features a wide color gamut capable of displaying 100% of the DCI-P3 color space and supports Rec. 2020 and Rec. 709 color spaces. It automatically detects HDR video standards and supports static metadata PQ and HLG formats per ST2084 standards. The bright 2500 nit screen enables outdoor shooting even in direct sunlight.
Professional Monitoring Tools
- Built-in waveform monitor, vectorscope, RGB parade, and histogram for detailed video analysis.
- Scopes can be overlaid on live video or displayed as picture-in-picture.
- Focus and exposure assist features enhance image quality control.
- Supports industry-standard 17 and 33 point 3D LUT files and includes built-in LUTs such as Extended Video, Film to Video, and Film to Rec.2020.
Audio Recording
Includes a professional multi-channel audio recorder superior to most camera audio quality. When using SDI, it can record 2, 4, 8, or 16 channels of audio in real time. The 7" model adds two XLR analog inputs with phantom power supporting 192 kHz sample rates at 16 and 24-bit uncompressed audio. On-screen audio meters with selectable VU or PPM ballistics are provided.
User Interface and Language Support
The intuitive touchscreen interface offers dedicated controls for play, stop, record, and a mini timeline for navigation. It supports multiple languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, German, French, Russian, Italian, Portuguese, and Turkish.
