Imaging Sensor and Processor
The FUJIFILM X100V features a 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans BSI CMOS 4 sensor with a back-illuminated design for enhanced low-light performance and reduced noise. It supports ISO sensitivity from 160 to 12800 (expandable to 80-51200) and omits an optical low-pass filter for sharper images. The sensor is paired with the quad-core X-Processor 4, delivering fast processing and improved autofocus responsiveness with 425 phase-detection points covering nearly the entire sensor area.
Lens and Optics
Equipped with a redesigned Fujinon 23mm f/2 prime lens (equivalent to 35mm), the optical design includes two aspherical elements to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion, enhancing sharpness and clarity. The lens features a bright f/2 aperture for low-light shooting and depth of field control, with a Super EBC coating to minimize flare and ghosting. Digital teleconverter options simulate 50mm and 75mm focal lengths, and optional WCL and TCL attachment lenses expand or reduce the field of view.
Viewfinder and Monitor
The camera incorporates an Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder combining a 3.69 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF) with a 0.52x magnification optical viewfinder (OVF). The EVF offers a fast refresh rate and customizable display, while the OVF includes an Electronic Rangefinder overlay for manual focus assistance. A 3.0" 1.62 million-dot tilting touchscreen LCD supports high- and low-angle shooting.
Video Capabilities
The X100V records internal DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) and UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) video at up to 30 fps, and Full HD (1920 x 1080) at up to 120 fps for slow-motion effects. It supports 10-bit 4:2:2 output via micro-HDMI to external recorders. Video encoding formats include MOV/H.264 with bitrates up to 200 Mb/s. Audio is recorded via built-in stereo microphone or external stereo mic input in Linear PCM format.
Body Design and Controls
The X100V maintains the classic rangefinder-inspired design with top and bottom plates milled from single aluminum pieces, finished with a satin coating. It features analog dials for shutter speed and exposure compensation, providing a tactile and intuitive shooting experience. The body supports weather resistance when used with the optional AR-X100 adapter ring and PRF-49 protection filter.
Exposure and Autofocus
Exposure modes include Aperture Priority, Manual, Program, and Shutter Priority with shutter speeds ranging from 1/4000 to 30 seconds (mechanical shutter) and 1/32000 to 30 seconds (electronic shutter). Metering options include average, center-weighted, multi, spot, and TTL 256-zone metering. Continuous shooting reaches up to 11 fps with the mechanical shutter and 20 fps with the electronic shutter. The autofocus system supports low-light focusing down to -5 EV and enhanced face and eye detection for improved tracking.
Film Simulation and Creative Features
The camera offers 17 Film Simulation modes replicating classic Fujifilm films such as Provia, Velvia, Astia, Classic Chrome, Classic Neg, PRO Neg, Eterna, Acros, B&W, and Sepia. Additional effects include Grain Effect, Color Chrome, and Color Chrome Blue. Multiple exposure mode allows layering up to 9 images in various blending modes for creative in-camera compositions.
Flash and Connectivity
The built-in flash supports multiple modes including Auto, Commander, First- and Second-Curtain Sync, Manual, Red-Eye Reduction, Slow Sync, and TTL Auto, with an effective range of 0.3 to 7.4 meters at ISO 1600. External flash units can be connected via the hot shoe. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, USB Type-C, micro-HDMI, and a 2.5mm sub-mini jack. The camera uses a single SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot.
