Electronic Shutter-Only Design

The Z8 uses an electronic shutter exclusively, eliminating mechanical shutter wear and enabling silent operation. Despite this, it supports flash sync up to 1/200 second and high-speed sync. A customizable shutter release sound is available for user feedback.

AI-Based Subject Detection

Using deep learning algorithms from the Z9, the Z8 detects and tracks various subjects including humans, animals, airplanes, and bicycles. Eye-Detection AF is enhanced for accuracy and works with custom Wide-Area AF for different subject sizes.

Video Capabilities

Internal 8K and 4K Recording

The Z8 records UHD 8K video at up to 30p with full pixel readout and continuous recording for over 2 hours. It supports 4K up to 120p for slow-motion and oversampled 4K at 60p from an 8K area for enhanced detail. High-resolution frame grabs of 33MP (8K) and 11MP (4K) are possible.

12-Bit N-RAW and ProRes RAW

• Internal 12-bit raw recording in Nikon's N-RAW format up to 8.3K 60p, 4.1K 120p, and 5.3K 60p (1.5x crop), and 3.8K 120p (2.3x crop).
