Unitree A2-W

The Unitree A2-W is a four-legged industrial robot with wheel drive, designed for efficient and safe movement across demanding terrain. Weighing approximately 37 kg with batteries, its structure combines high mechanical strength with dynamic performance. It can carry loads of up to 25 kg while moving and support up to 100 kg when stationary. Wheel drive improves efficiency over long distances without limiting the robot’s ability to negotiate obstacles.

Efficient wheel drive for long distances

Developed as an extension of the A2 platform, the A2-W integrates wheels to improve movement efficiency. This enables smoother, more energy-efficient travel across varied surfaces, particularly over longer distances. The robot maintains stability and control while meeting the needs of industrial and logistics environments where speed and continuous operation are important.

Stability in the field

The A2-W is designed for environments where conventional mobile robots may be less effective. It can climb steps up to 30 cm high and travel on slopes with an incline of up to 45°. Motion control and a robust construction support operation on stairs, rubble, rocky ground and other uneven surfaces, making the platform suitable for inspection, patrol and logistics tasks in hard-to-reach locations.

Designed for intensive use

Mobility is provided by 12 low-inertia permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), enabling fast responses even under heavy loads. Maximum joint torque of approximately 180 N·m supports stability during intensive work and dynamic manoeuvres. The aluminium-alloy and high-strength engineering-plastic construction is designed for long service life and resistance to mechanical damage.

Transporting equipment in difficult terrain

The Unitree A2-W can serve as a mobile transport platform in difficult terrain. It carries loads of up to 25 kg while moving and supports approximately 100 kg when stationary. These capabilities allow it to transport tools, measuring instruments and other equipment where conventional solutions are difficult to use. Wheel drive further improves transport efficiency over longer distances.

Real-time environment analysis

An industrial front-mounted LiDAR sensor and an HD front camera support spatial orientation, obstacle detection and terrain assessment for stable, safe movement. Front LED lighting improves operation in low-visibility conditions by illuminating the work area in enclosed or dark environments.

Power for extended field operations

The A2-W has two battery slots and uses batteries rated at 9000 mAh each. Without a load, the robot can operate for up to 5 hours and cover approximately 20 km. With a 25 kg load, operating time is approximately 3 hours or more, with a range of approximately 12.5 km. The hot-swap design allows batteries to be replaced without interrupting a mission. The robot is designed to operate at temperatures from −20°C to 55°C.

Expandable computing platform

The computing system combines an 8-core high-performance CPU for platform functions with an Intel Core i7 processor for user application development. The A2-W supports Smart OTA updates and provides RS485, CAN, Gigabit Ethernet and USB interfaces for integration with additional systems and external devices.

Communication and operational safety

A built-in speaker and microphone enable voice communication and real-time messaging. They can be used to transmit information during missions and signal the robot’s presence, helping to improve operational safety.

Applications

The A2-W is suited to technical inspections, logistics, field patrols and rescue operations. Its wheel drive, mechanical strength, extended operating time and perception systems support work in locations that are difficult to access or potentially hazardous for people.
