The fast f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also suits creating shallow depth of field, selective focus imagery. Three Super ED elements and one aspherical element help to reduce a variety of aberrations and distortion in order to realize a high degree of sharpness, clarity, and accurate rendering, and a multi-layer HD coating helps to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy in bright and backlit conditions. Complementing the optics is an SDM autofocus system that delivers especially quick, quiet, and accurate focusing performance that suits both stills and video applications. Additionally, the lens has an All Weather construction and a Super Protect coating on the front element to enable its use in trying environmental conditions.
- Portrait-length prime lens is designed for full-frame Pentax K-mount cameras but is also suitable for APS-C models where it provides a 130mm equivalent focal length.
