The Metabones Olympus OM Lens to Sony E-Mount Speed Booster ULTRA (Version 3) allows full-frame Olympus OM lenses to be mounted on Sony APS-C E-Mount cameras while increasing the maximum aperture by one f-stop and expanding the angle of view by 0.71. Featuring ultra-high index tantalum-based glass, this 5-element/4-group optical design delivers improved sharpness, reduced distortion, and minimal vignetting. Precision-machined brass construction, infinity focus, and a detachable Arca-compatible tripod foot ensure durability and professional usability.
This advanced optical adapter improves upon the original Speed Booster with a 5-element/4-group optical design using ultra-high index tantalum-based glass to enhance corner sharpness, reduce distortion, and minimize vignetting.
When using a full-frame lens on an APS-C sensor, the image circle exceeds the sensor size, effectively reducing the angle of view. The Speed Booster condenses light to the smaller sensor, increasing the effective field of view and reducing the crop factor from 1.5 to 1.07. This optical compression also boosts the lens's maximum aperture by approximately one f-stop, enabling better low-light performance and shallower depth of field.
Precision-machined brass on both camera and lens sides ensures a solid, gap-free connection. Matte-black interior treatment minimizes internal reflections, maintaining maximum optical quality, while the exterior black satin finish complements modern camera aesthetics. Infinity focus is maintained, and the adapter accommodates lenses with CRC or floating elements without compromising optical performance.
The detachable tripod foot is compatible with Arca Swiss, Markins, and Photo Clam ball heads, providing versatile mounting options. Please note that automatic functions such as electronic aperture control or AE metering are not retained; manual control is required. While physically compatible with full-frame Sony cameras, the Speed Booster functions fully only in Crop Mode.
