The Metabones Leica R to Xmount Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x features an advanced 5-element/4-group optical design incorporating ultra-high index tantalum-based optical glass. This design achieves extraordinary optical performance with sharper corners, less distortion, and reduced vignetting compared to previous models.
Crop Factor Reduction
With a magnification factor of 0.71x, the Speed Booster ULTRA effectively reduces the crop factor of mirrorless cameras with DX-sized sensors, such as Sony E-mount and Fuji X-mount cameras, from 1.5x to approximately 1.07x. This allows for a wider field of view and improved low-light performance.
Compatibility and Performance
The ULTRA design utilizes exotic materials at the forefront of glassmaking technology, enabling excellent correction for use with virtually all full-frame SLR lenses regardless of exit pupil distance. It performs exceptionally well with professional-grade f/2.8 zoom lenses, such as Canon and Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8 zooms, effectively transforming them into 17-50mm f/2.0 and 50-142mm f/2.0 high-speed zoom lenses, respectively.
High-speed prime lenses, such as a 50mm f/1.2, are transformed into approximately 35.5mm f/0.9 lenses, delivering excellent contrast and resolution from the center to the edges of the image.

Lens Compatibility and Modification Requirements
Note that some lenses require modification to fit or avoid damage when used with the Speed Booster ULTRA. Lenses with rear protrusions such as spikes, levers, or other appendages may damage the optics or housing and must be modified before use.

- Contax/Yashica: Distagon 15mm f/3.5
- Nikon F: 20mm f/2.8 AI-S
- Olympus OM: 18mm f/3.5, 21mm f/2, 21mm f/3.5, 28mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.8
- Pentax K: All lenses have protruding fins and aperture levers and are incompatible without modification.
Users should verify that no rear protrusions exist on their lens and adapter combination before use. Damage caused by rear protrusions or poor-quality adapters is not covered by warranty.
Additional Notes
- Super telephoto lenses such as the Telyt 560mm f/5.6 may exhibit corner vignetting.
- The tripod foot is detachable and compatible with popular ball head systems for flexible support.
