The Blackmagic UpDownCross 100G is a professional 8-channel format converter designed for simultaneous conversion of SD, HD, and Ultra HD video formats. It supports up to 8 separate video channels, allowing conversion between any formats including up, down, and cross conversions.
This device features native SMPTE-2110 connectivity via high-speed 100G Ethernet, ensuring compatibility with modern IP broadcast infrastructures. It includes dual 100G Ethernet ports that provide full SMPTE 2022-7 redundancy, enabling seamless protection switching by transmitting two identical copies of video and audio over separate network paths. This redundancy ensures uninterrupted video streams without frame drops or audio errors, even in case of network failures.
The converter supports video standards up to 2160p60 and includes a dedicated NMOS control port for integration with IP routing and control systems. It offers synchronization of SDI inputs to a common PTP clock or external reference signals generated from the PTP clock, complying fully with SMPTE-2110 standards for 10-bit video, audio, and auxiliary data over managed IP networks.
Designed as a 1RU rackmount unit, the Blackmagic UpDownCross 100G features ultra-quiet front-to-back cooling, a front-panel LCD for monitoring video inputs and outputs, and front-panel speaker and headphone outputs for audio monitoring. It is equipped with two redundant AC power supplies to ensure broadcast-grade reliability and is localized into 13 popular languages for international use.
