ILFORD Washaid - Hypo Eliminator for Film and Paper Washing
ILFORD Washaid is a concentrated hypo eliminator designed to facilitate the efficient removal of thiosulphate by-products from fixation through ion exchange. It is especially useful for accelerating the washing process of black and white films and fibre-based photographic papers, saving both time and water.
Usage and Dilution
The product is supplied as a concentrate and should be diluted with water at a ratio of 1:4 before use.
Washing Times
- Washing fibre-based (baryta) paper with ILFORD Washaid takes approximately 10 minutes.
- Washing black and white film takes about 2-3 minutes.
Resource Efficiency
One liter of ready-to-use solution is sufficient for washing approximately 40 sheets of 20.3 x 25.4 cm baryta paper or 40 rolls of 35 mm film.
Application Instructions for Baryta Paper
- After fixing, rinse the paper in running water for 5 minutes.
- Immerse in ILFORD Washaid bath for 10 minutes.
- Rinse again in running water for 20 minutes.
Alternatively:
- 1 minute in ILFORD Washaid bath.
- 5 minutes in running water.
- 10 minutes in ILFORD Washaid bath.
- 5 minutes in running water.
Storage Recommendations
- Store up to 4 years in a fully filled, tightly closed container.
- Store up to 6 months in a half-filled, tightly closed container.
- Use diluted solution within 7 days.
Additional Notes
ILFORD Washaid is particularly beneficial when a hardening fixer has been used and is designed to be compatible with ILFORD's optimum permanence processing sequences.
