Compact and Portable Design
The Sony Alpha 7C combines the image quality and advantages of a full-frame sensor with a compact, rangefinder-inspired body design. It is approximately 20% smaller and lighter than other a7-series cameras, comparable in size to APS-C format cameras, making it ideal for everyday carry and travel.
Sensor and Image Processing
Equipped with a 24.2MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processor, the a7C delivers high-resolution stills and UHD 4K video with low noise and wide dynamic range (up to 15 stops). The sensor features a gapless on-chip lens design and anti-reflective coating to enhance light gathering and detail. Native ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 51200, expandable to ISO 50-204800.
Video Capabilities
The camera supports internal UHD 4K recording at up to 30 fps using 2.4x oversampling for enhanced detail and reduced moiré. Full HD 1080p video is available up to 120 fps for smooth slow-motion playback. Video is recorded in the XAVC S format (100 Mb/s) with 4:2:0 8-bit sampling internally, and uncompressed 4:2:2 8-bit output is available via HDMI for external recorders. The a7C offers advanced gamma profiles including S-Log2, S-Log3, and Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) for HDR workflows and extensive color grading flexibility.
Autofocus and Image Stabilization
The Fast Hybrid AF system covers most of the frame with 693 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection points, providing fast, accurate autofocus with support for Real-time Eye AF and Tracking AF for humans and animals. The 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization compensates for pitch, yaw, horizontal and vertical shift, and roll, providing up to 5 stops of shake reduction even with adapted lenses.
