The Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC is a fast, manually focused wide-angle lens designed for DSLR and mirrorless cameras with sensors up to full-frame size (24x36 mm). It features a sophisticated optical construction of 12 elements arranged in 10 groups, including two High Refractive (HR) glass elements that reduce size and weight while maintaining excellent resolution. An aspheric element minimizes spherical aberration, ensuring high sharpness across the frame even at large apertures.
The lens employs a floating lens design to maintain high image quality at close focusing distances, with a minimum focus distance of 30 cm. Samyang's Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) reduces reflections and ghosting, delivering maximum contrast and natural color reproduction.
Compatibility and Usage
This lens is suitable for a variety of photographic applications including documentary, street, landscape, and everyday photography. When mounted on an APS-C sensor camera, it acts as a fast normal lens (~50mm equivalent), and on Micro Four Thirds cameras (Olympus, Panasonic), it functions as a telephoto lens ideal for portraits (~70mm equivalent).
The lens is compatible with Pentax K mount cameras, supporting full-frame DSLRs as well as APS-C and Four Thirds sensor formats.

Automatic Aperture Control (AE Versions)
AE versions of the lens include a motorized aperture control and CPU chip, allowing the camera to adjust aperture automatically and providing viewfinder focus confirmation to assist manual focusing. For Canon EF mount, both AE and non-AE versions exist; Nikon versions are only available with AE support. Other mounts typically have manual aperture control only.
