Multi-Format Live Video Switching

The Roland V-40HD is a versatile multi-format live video switcher designed to handle a wide range of input sources including digital, analog, computer, and video formats. It supports popular HDMI cameras and computers, making it ideal for live events and installations requiring flexible source connectivity.

True Multi-Format Video Processing

Each input features a broadcast-quality scaler that independently adjusts the resolution of the source to match the chosen output resolution, eliminating the need to match input and output resolutions manually.

Input and Output Connectivity

  • Four input systems (Inputs 1-4), each with three connector types: HDMI, RGB/Component, and Composite, allowing connection of up to twelve video devices.
  • Output options include three systems: Output (HDMI, RGB/Component, Composite), Output 2 (HDMI, RGB/Component), and Preview (HDMI).

Supported Resolutions and Formats

  • Supports input/output resolutions up to 1080p at 60 Hz or 1920x1200 pixels.
  • Internal signal processing uses 4:4:4/10-bit for vivid, high-detail video sources.
  • Output signal processing is 4:2:2/8-bit.
  • HDCP compliant, enabling mixing of copy-protected content such as Blu-ray discs and game consoles with other sources.

HDCP Mode Features

  • Allows input and switching of commercial digital video sources encoded with HDCP digital copyright management.
  • Output in HDCP mode is limited to DVI-D/HDMI only; Component and Composite outputs are disabled.
  • Connected displays must support HDCP.

Audio Integration

The V-40HD can input analog audio sources such as background music or narration, mix and synchronize them with video, and output the combined signal via HDMI.

Input Features

  • Scaling and Zoom: Independent scaling and sizing adjustments for each input source.
  • Input Selectors: Easily switch between HDMI, RGB/Component, and Composite inputs for each channel with a single button press.
  • Input Connectors: HDMI supports up to WUXGA and 1080p with embedded audio; RGB/Component supports up to WUXGA and 1080p; Composite supports 480i or 576i.

Output Features

  • Output Selectors: Choose between SD, HD, or RGB output formats via button control.
  • Preview (PVW) Selectors: Select preview monitor display modes including four-way split screen, PST, PGM, or DSK.
  • Preview Output: Fixed resolution and refresh rate at 1920 x 1080 pixels, 60 Hz progressive scan; requires HDMI monitor supporting HDCP and 60p signals.
  • Output Connectors: HDMI (up to WUXGA, 1080p), RGB/Component (up to WUXGA, 1080p), Composite (480i or 576i). Note that in HDCP mode, RGB/Component and Composite outputs are disabled.

Additional Features

  • Input source multi-viewer output for convenient monitoring on an HDMI monitor.
  • Supports mixing of various video sources with background video or live camera feeds.
