It enhances the original Speed Booster design with a 5-element/4-group optical system using ultra-high refractive index tantalum-based glass for superior sharpness, improved corner performance, reduced distortion, and minimal vignetting.
By condensing light from full-frame lenses onto an APS-C sensor, the Speed Booster reduces the crop factor from 1.5x to 1.07x, producing a nearly full-frame field of view while increasing the maximum aperture by one f-stop, improving low-light performance and allowing a shallower depth of field.
Constructed from precision-machined brass with chrome plating, the adapter ensures a secure fit with no play or wobble. The matte black interior reduces internal reflections, while the black satin exterior seamlessly matches modern camera aesthetics. A detachable Arca-compatible tripod foot adds stability for video or long exposures. The Speed Booster maintains infinity focus and correct registration distance for CRC or floating-element lenses, though automatic diaphragm (AE metering) is not retained.
