Professional VCR Control for HyperDeck Extreme
The Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Extreme Control extends the capabilities of the HyperDeck Extreme model by adding traditional professional VCR controls. It enables precise control over legacy video equipment, making it ideal for archiving and editing workflows involving older formats.
Key Features
- Control up to 8 HyperDeck units via RS-422 protocol.
- Supports control of legacy VCRs including Digital Betacam, Betacam SP, and 1" C format video decks.
- Allows setting of start and end points and simple editing functions.
- Enables a single operator to archive old shows efficiently when combined with HyperDeck Extreme 8K and legacy recording equipment.
- Compatible with Teranex Express for one-step SD to HD conversion.
Software Update 7.1 (April 2020)
The HyperDeck v7.1 update introduces significant enhancements, particularly for the HyperDeck Studio Mini, which also benefit the HyperDeck Extreme Control in terms of control and connectivity:
- Implementation of H.264 codec supporting HD formats with half-frames and AAC audio, enabling direct upload to YouTube.
- Faster Ethernet data transfer speeds up to 110 MB/s for seamless media playback and FTP upload.
- Extended continuous recording duration to a single file of at least 3 hours.
- Support for recording SD, 720p, 1080p, and 1080i material with half-frame H.264 compression ratios ranging from 36:1 to 124:1.
- Support for ProRes 422 HQ, 422, 422 LT, Proxy formats, and DNx container recording.
- More stable connection between HyperDeck Extreme Control and HyperDeck Studio Mini.
- Ability to control multiple recorders simultaneously.
- Network interface optimizations for improved performance.
