Optical Design
Thanks to its deliberately designed optical layout, the NiSi Athena Rewind simulates the characteristics of vintage film-era lenses, including enhanced aberrations, reduced sharpness at wide apertures, and improved softness for an authentic vintage look without using actual old lenses.
Aperture Control
Adjustable stylization with an aperture range: the vintage character is most pronounced at T1.9, gradually decreasing to T2.8 (an optimal balance point), and from T5.6 to T8, the lens performs almost like a modern cine lens, providing creative adjustment options for cinematographers.
Bokeh and Reflections
- Expressive Bubble Bokeh: At wide apertures, the NiSi Athena Rewind creates distinctive bubble-like bokeh with bright edges and darker centers in out-of-focus light spots, most noticeable in the 35mm and 50mm lenses, controllable as it fades around T4.0.
