NiSi Athena Prime Cine Lens Series
The NiSi Athena Cine lenses cover focal lengths from 14 mm ultra-wide angle to 85 mm, including ultra-wide and portrait focal lengths, providing exceptional versatility for various shooting scenarios.
Optical Performance and Aperture
These lenses feature T-stop ratings that measure actual light transmission, ensuring consistent exposure. The 25 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm (two versions), and 85 mm lenses have a maximum aperture of T1.9, enabling soft bokeh and beautiful background separation. The 14 mm lens has a T2.4 aperture.
The image circle diameter is 46 mm, suitable for full-frame and large-format sensors.
Mount Options and Image Quality
The series is available in ARRI PL, Canon RF, Sony E, Panasonic/Leica L, and Fuji G mounts. They offer very low chromatic aberration and excellent micro-contrast control, delivering fine image detail and superior image quality.
Focus Breathing Minimization
Athena Prime lenses minimize focus breathing, meaning changes in the field of view when adjusting focus from minimum distance to infinity are very small, regardless of focal length or aperture.
Patented Rear Filter System
The Athena Prime series includes a Drop-In filter mount for enhanced flexibility and creative control. RF, L, and G-mount lenses have the Drop-In filter option. E-mount lenses come in versions with and without Drop-In filters, while PL-mount lenses use a rear filter.
- Sony FX9 cameras cannot use E-mount lenses with Drop-In filters.
- To achieve infinity focus and sharp images, use a transparent Drop-In filter for RF, L, G, and E mounts, and a rear filter for PL mount.
Weather protection is available for the Drop-In filter.
Uniform Weight and Handling
All Athena Prime lenses have similar weight, allowing lens changes without rebalancing on a gimbal. They share a 77 mm filter thread size. Aperture and focus rings are matched across the range.
They feature 300° focus rotation and fluorescent focus scales marked in imperial and metric units for precise focusing.
Compatibility and Accessories
Designed for optical performance and usability, these lenses have standard 0.8 mod focus and aperture gears, compatible with many follow focus and matte box systems.
NiSi offers a 77 mm close-up lens (sold separately) to reduce minimum focus distance and enable macro effects.
