The NiSi Athena Cine lens series spans focal lengths from 14 mm ultra-wide angle to 85 mm, covering both ultra-wide and portrait perspectives. This range provides excellent versatility for various shooting scenarios and subject types.
Consistent T-Stop and Aperture
The lenses feature T-stop values that accurately measure light transmission, ensuring consistent exposure across all focal lengths. The 25 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm, and 85 mm lenses have a maximum aperture of T1.9, enabling soft bokeh and attractive background separation. The 14 mm lens has a T2.4 aperture.
Large Image Circle and Mount Options
With a large image circle diameter of 46 mm, these lenses support full-frame and large-format sensors. The series is available in ARRI PL, Canon RF, Sony E, Panasonic/Leica L, and Fuji G mounts, providing low chromatic aberration and enhanced microcontrast for superior image quality and fine detail.
Minimal Focus Breathing
The Athena Prime lenses are engineered to minimize focus breathing, maintaining a nearly constant field of view when focusing from minimum distance to infinity, regardless of aperture.
Patented Rear Filter System
- The series includes a Drop-In filter mount for creative flexibility.
- RF, L, and G-mount lenses feature the Drop-In filter option.
- Sony E-mount lenses are available with or without Drop-In filters.
- PL-mount lenses utilize a rear filter.
Important Notes:
- Sony FX9 cameras cannot use E-mount lenses with Drop-In filters.
- Transparent Drop-In filters are required for infinity focus and sharp images on RF, L, G, and E mounts; PL mount requires the rear filter.
Weather protection is available for the Drop-In filters.
Uniform Weight and Handling
All Athena Prime lenses have similar weight, allowing lens changes without rebalancing gimbals. They share a consistent 77 mm filter thread size, and aperture and focus rings are standardized across the range.
Precise Focus Control
Each lens offers 300° focus rotation and fluorescent focus scales marked in both imperial and metric units for precise focusing.
Compatibility and Accessories
The lenses feature standard 0.8 mod focus and aperture gears compatible with many follow focus and matte box systems. A 77 mm close-up lens is available separately to reduce minimum focus distance and enable macro effects.
