NiSi Athena Prime Cine Lens Series
The NiSi Athena Prime Cine lenses cover focal lengths from 14 mm ultra-wide angle to 85 mm portrait lengths, providing exceptional versatility for various shooting scenarios and subjects.
Optical Performance
These lenses feature T-stop ratings that measure actual light transmission, ensuring consistent exposure across all focal lengths. The 50 mm lens has a maximum aperture of T1.9, enabling a soft bokeh effect for beautiful background separation. The series includes lenses with apertures ranging from T1.9 to T2.4.
With an image circle diameter of 46 mm, these lenses support full-frame and large-format sensors.
Mount Options and Image Quality
The Athena Prime series is available in ARRI PL, Canon RF, Sony E, Panasonic/Leica L, and Fuji G mounts. They offer very low chromatic aberration and excellent micro-contrast control, resulting in unparalleled image quality with fine detail.
Focus Breathing Minimization
These lenses are engineered to minimize focus breathing, meaning the field of view changes very little when adjusting focus from minimum focus distance to infinity, regardless of focal length or aperture.
Patented Rear Filter System
The series features a Drop-In filter mount for enhanced flexibility and creative control. RF, L, and G-mount lenses include the Drop-In filter option; E-mount lenses come in versions with and without Drop-In filters; PL-mount lenses use a rear filter.
- Sony FX9 cameras cannot use E-mount lenses with Drop-In filters.
- To achieve infinity focus and sharp images, use a clear Drop-In filter for RF, L, G, and E mounts, and a rear filter for PL mount.
Weather protection is available for the Drop-In filter system.
Uniform Weight and Handling
All NiSi Athena Prime lenses have similar weight, allowing lens changes without rebalancing gimbals. They share a consistent 77 mm filter thread size. Aperture and focus rings are harmonized across the range.
Each lens features 300° focus rotation and fluorescent focus scales marked in both imperial and metric units for precise focusing.
Compatibility and Accessories
Designed for user convenience, these lenses have standard 0.8 mod focus and aperture gears, compatible with a wide range of follow focus and matte box systems.
NiSi offers a 77 mm close-up lens accessory (sold separately) to reduce minimum focus distance and enable excellent macro effects.
