NiSi Athena Prime Cine Lens Series
The NiSi Athena Prime cine lenses cover a focal length range from an ultra-wide 14 mm to 85 mm, including both ultra-wide and portrait focal lengths. This range provides exceptional versatility for various shooting scenarios and subject types.
Optical Performance and Aperture
The lenses feature T-stop ratings that measure actual light transmission, ensuring consistent exposure across focal lengths. The 14 mm lens has a maximum aperture of T2.4, while the 25/35/50/85 mm lenses offer T1.9 apertures for soft bokeh and background separation.
The image circle diameter is 46 mm, suitable for full-frame and large-format sensors.
Mount Options and Image Quality
The series is available in ARRI PL, Canon RF, Sony E, Panasonic/Leica L, and Fuji G mounts. They deliver exceptionally low chromatic aberration and excellent micro-contrast control, resulting in fine image detail and superior image quality.
Focus Breathing Minimization
These lenses are engineered to minimize focus breathing, maintaining a stable field of view when adjusting focus from minimum distance to infinity, regardless of focal length or aperture.
Patented Rear Filter System
The Athena Prime series includes a patented Drop-In filter mount system for enhanced creative control. RF, L, and G mount lenses include the Drop-In filter option. E-mount lenses come in versions with or without Drop-In filters, while PL-mount lenses use a rear filter.
- Sony FX9 cameras cannot use E-mount lenses with Drop-In filters.
- To achieve infinity focus and sharp images, use a transparent Drop-In filter for RF, L, G, and E mounts, and a rear filter for PL mount.
Weather protection is available for the Drop-In filters.
Uniform Weight and Handling
All Athena Prime lenses have similar weight, allowing lens changes without rebalancing on gimbals. They share a 77 mm filter thread size, with standardized aperture and focus rings.
Each lens offers 300° focus rotation and fluorescent focus scales marked in imperial and metric units for precise focusing.
Compatibility and Accessories
The lenses feature standard 0.8 mod focus and aperture gears, compatible with various follow focus and matte box systems.
A NiSi 77 mm close-up lens is available separately to reduce minimum focus distance and enable macro effects.
