The NiSi Athena Prime 40mm T1.9 E-Mount lens is part of a versatile cine lens series ranging from 14mm to 135mm focal lengths, covering ultra-wide to portrait perspectives. This lens features a T1.9 maximum aperture, enabling beautiful soft bokeh and excellent background separation.
Optical Performance
- Impressive 46mm image circle suitable for full-frame and large-format sensors.
- Ultra-low chromatic aberration and micro-contrast control for superior image quality.
- Minimized focus breathing ensures consistent field of view when focusing from minimum distance to infinity.
- Consistent T-stop rating ensures reliable exposure across focal lengths.
Mount and Filter System
- E-Mount version available without Drop-In filter system.
- Proprietary rear filtration system featured in Athena Prime lenses; however, this 40mm E-Mount version does not include the Drop-In filter.
- Note: Sony FX9 camera is incompatible with E-Mount lenses equipped with Drop-In filters.
- Use of Drop-In clear filter (for RF, L, G, and E mounts) or rear filter (for PL mount) is necessary to achieve infinity focus and clear images.
Design and Handling
- All Athena Prime lenses share similar weight, eliminating the need for gimbal rebalancing when switching lenses.
- Standard 0.8 mod focus and iris gears ensure compatibility with follow focus and matte box systems.
- Focus rotation of 300° with fluorescent focus scales in both metric and imperial units for precise focus pulls.
- 77mm filter thread consistent across all lenses except the 14mm model.
Additional Features
- Weather-sealed Drop-In filter available separately for compatible mounts.
- Close-up lens accessory (77mm) available to reduce minimum focus distance for macro effects (sold separately).
