The NiSi Athena Cine Lenses series offers focal lengths from 14mm ultra-wide angle to 135mm telephoto, covering a broad spectrum from super-wide to portrait focal lengths. This range provides exceptional versatility for various shooting scenarios, enabling capture of diverse subjects with consistent exposure thanks to precise T-stop ratings.
Optical Performance
- The 135mm lens features a maximum aperture of T2.2, suitable for creating soft bokeh and beautiful background separation.
- All lenses deliver an impressive 46mm image circle, compatible with full-frame and large-format sensors.
- Ultra-low chromatic aberration and micro-contrast control ensure unparalleled image quality with fine detail resolution.
- Designed to minimize focus breathing, the lenses maintain a nearly constant field of view when adjusting focus from minimum distance to infinity.
Mount and Filter System
- The Athena Prime series is available in multiple mounts including ARRI PL, Canon RF, Sony E, Panasonic/Leica L, and Fuji G.
- The 135mm L-Mount lens features a proprietary Drop-In filter mount system, allowing creative flexibility and easy filter changes.
- It is essential to use the Drop-In clear filter on RF, L, G, and E mounts (except Sony FX9 E-Mount, which does not support Drop-In filters) and the rear filter on PL mount to achieve infinity focus and clear images.
- Weather-sealed Drop-In filters are available for enhanced protection.
Mechanical and Handling Features
- All Athena Prime lenses (except the 14mm) share a 77mm front filter thread, simplifying accessory use.
- The lenses have matched aperture and focus rings across the series, facilitating quick lens swaps without rebalancing on gimbals.
- Focus rotation is 300°, with fluorescent focus scales marked in both metric and imperial units for precise focus pulls.
- Standard 0.8 mod focus and iris gears ensure compatibility with a wide range of follow focus and matte box systems.
- NiSi offers a 77mm close-up lens (sold separately) to reduce minimum focus distance for macro effects.
